chapter 2 ☾☼

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” — Winnie the Pooh

I… actually don’t have any idea how to write this post, and to be honest, I have been avoiding to do so. Well, Winnie the Pooh seems to capture what I feel perfectly.

Like mentioned in several of my posts this past month, I’ve talked about why I’ve decided to move on to a new blog. At first, my plan was to change the blog name and address on the current one right now. However, it then came apparent that I cannot do that. Originally, I had wanted to change the name because I no longer felt that “Free Perspectives” represented what I wanted this blog to be. But, I couldn’t bring myself to completely change it and say goodbye to this blog name, and url, completely. When I first started blogging, I had just gone through a rough time – at that time, that blog name meant something to me. Therefore, “Free Perspectives” is something that I want to keep, for sentimental reasons, as well as being such an important part that has helped me throughout highs and lows.

At first, the thought of starting completely over was startling. Blogging envy was something that had almost lead me to stop before, and I was afraid that it would happen again. Though, I believe that I have learned, and that there are so many beautiful amazing friends – you know who you are – that I have made whilst this journey in the blogosphere to help me as I begin again. I know that moving on to my new site would mean that I would have no followers again, and few likes, but I have since then understood that it really, truly doesn’t represent who I am. Blogging should be something I enjoy and love – if it starts to become a chore and source of validation, then it will be something worth going over and thinking about. However, I’m confident that my new blog will remind me of those important aspects, and how it applies to our daily lives.

To be honest, though, to me, this isn’t a goodbye – I don’t see this as a “last post” – instead, I believe that this a new beginning, a new chapter. Free Perspectives started this story, but the chapter will have to end eventually. My new blog will simply be chapter two of my journey, with y’all, in the blogosphere. Of course – this blog won’t ever be taken down, as well as my past posts – no worries :))

On that note, I think it’s proper time to introduce the new site!

Thank you all again, so so much for putting up and supporting this potato tea child as she transitions over to the new site. This is simply just chapter one – let the next one begin, shall we?

Farewell May // plans for the future, preparing for finals, modelling + school (but again, what’s new??)

Hello there, dear blogosphere.

I have *yet* again disappeared from blogging in general again this month, and to be honest, it feels SO good to be back. A lot has happened these two months, and changes are coming soon. Honestly, still can’t believe that it’s almost June aka end of the school year… is it just me or is it that 2019 has been unbelievably fast?

Anyways, enough of me rambling. Let’s just dive right into this post, shall we?

How I Unwind After a Long Day // finding balance, advice + thoughts on self care

Sometimes, things get a little bit overwhelming.

Whether it’s from school, work, or life, there will be days where everything, even the simplest of things, seem to be weighing you down. For some people, this may happen once awhile when all your schedules clash, but for others, this may be something they have to cope with almost daily.

Today, I’ll be sharing how I tend to unwind after a hectic day, and my thoughts on self care. I haven’t done mental health related posts in awhile now, and I though that this would be a suitable one to get back into, as this is something that we all need to work one, more or less.

Let’s dive right in, shall we?

i’ve been thinking about… [insert everything] // life updates + the future of this lil blog

Hi there, it’s me. Suddenly – and very randomly – dropping a post into your Reader feed as you casually scroll by.

It’s been about, what, 2 weeks (??) since my last post on this blog. Of course, there were the late night rehearsals, fashion show, and all that, so I had kinda anticipated this disappearance of mine from the blogosphere. Again.

However, ever since the fashion show rollercoaster ended (aka 4 days ago), I’ve been thinking about me, as a blogger, and y’all, as the wonderful readers that decide to read what I’ve got to say. I know that one of my main goals for blogging this year was to get back on track and post for consistently, but for the past few months, things haven’t been going to well on that front.

From the blog title you may be getting the impression that this is a goodbye, but I’m here to say that it’s not. I do feel, however, that I’m not being the best, responsible blogger I can be, and I believe that I can do way better. Thus, this is what this post will be about – the future of Free Perspectives.

I don’t know if it was because of the fashion show and school, but I’ve been lacking inspiration on what I should post. I strongly believe in posting content that I am truly proud of; what I really want to share with you guys. I don’t want to be posting just for the sake of posting. The thing is, while I struggle with that, I disappear off the blogosphere a bit, and that’s not exactly what I want either.

So what about the future of the blog?

↬ Firstly, I’m not going to stop blogging, nor go on a 1 month+ hiatus for the foreseeable future. This is something I love doing, and I want to continue with it. I owe blogging so much, and I can’t imagine me stopping anytime soon.

↬ There are going to be some major changes made soon, aka my blog name. I have been thinking about changing it for awhile now, and I believe that it would be best for me to now, without any doubt. Free Perspectives will always be a name close to my heart, but I think it no longer shows what I want to represent through this blog and my posts. Currently I don’t have a set name for sure yet (right now debating over two final choices), but I definitely have some ideas! I’ll be sure to mention when I’m going to transition over to my new url in a post when I decide to and have more time :))

I’m planning to stick with my niche(s), but as another source of feedback, I want to know what y’all think! This is just a smol poll* for me to see what you guys think. As always, it’s 100% anonymous, and the form doesn’t collect any of your email addresses or personal information 🙂 It would mean so much if you could take a minute to fill this out. Thank you in advance <33

*me being proud of the rhyme

I’ve been blogging for more than 2 years now, and I’ve got to say, wow this has been one special journey. However, I think that it’s okay to close that chapter of my blog, and begin with a fresh start. I want to make my blog represent what I want to share, and who I am overall as much as possible, so I think that this will be a good step to take next. Don’t worry – I won’t be deleting the blog posts I already have up on my blog :))

Anyways, to give a brief timeline, so far I’m estimating that I’ll be redesigning and changing my blog name (with the url) around the end of June or the start of July, as I will be on summer break then. I’m still not sure if I should change it, or have a complete new beginning and start a new blog, whilst keeping the url I already have. I’m really excited as to where this new chapter of my blog will take us <33 Thank you all again, for your patience and love. It truly means so much to me.

The Pancake Book Tag // ships *heart eyes*, abundance of salt + smol talk about diversity (!!)

Confession: last time I ate pancakes was about a year ago.

I’m not sure exactly when?? But for some reason I do remember that it’s a mix from Trader Joes, and I definitely did not add maple syrup. Don’t know why I know that, but hey, it is what it is. Even though I don’t eat pancakes often, if you add it with books, I’m coming to devour them.

I was tagged by the lovely Olivia @ Purely Olivia to do the Pancake Book Tag, and am I excited to do this one! Great big thank you to Olivia, my dear friend, and of course, Becky @ Blogs of a Bookaholic for creating this tag 🙂 Be sure to check out both of their posts, which are linked above.

7 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Blogging // ft. me being sentimental, my real thoughts + lessons I’ve learnt

Blogging has impacted and taught me so much.

From improving my writing, introducing me to reading (aka my love), to of course, the wonderful, amazing friendships I’ve made, there’s so much I owe to this blog or my first child. The past 2 years, a lot has changed for this blog and I as a blogger, and upon reflection, I wondered how much it was comparing to when I had first started.

Today, I’ll be talking about some things I wish I have known when I first started out blogging! I thought that it may be a fun and sentimental post to write about, and I hope that you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I had reminiscing :)) Before I start, I’d just like to note that the following are just what I wish I had known for my own blog, but that doesn’t necessarily have to be the same for yours! Everyone’s blog and style is different; let’s cherish that and celebrate our differences 🙂

Farewell March // blogiversary, textiles competition + truth on why I vanished

March… was all over the place.

From my sudden vanishing into the fog from blogging to dealing with loss of a pet, this was one long month. I’d like to say that I’m glad that March is over, but through all the events that happened last month, I’ve learned some important things about life and myself. Because I didn’t post a February wrap up, I’ll be including some bits and pieces into this post as well :))

2 Year Blogiversary Q&A // tons of bookish questions (!!), life aspirations + when will I stop blogging??

Hello world, and welcome back to another episode of Kimberly’s Unannounced Hiatus.

Or rather than hiatus, a short absence from the blogosphere – I… have once reappeared. Amidst school, textiles [insert screaming], the competition, and overall LIFE in general, I couldn’t find the time to properly sit down, drink a cup of tea and blog.

My 2nd blogiversary was actually on February 25th, and I was SO hoping that I could have this published on that day. Even though this is late, I owe this to y’all, and I had a ton of fun answering all the questions you submitted.

Discussion: DOES THE HYPE RUIN BOOKS FOR READERS? // ft. tsunami of emotions, screaming (like always) + my experiences

Hello, my name is Kimberly, and I am doing my first bookish discussion post. Ever.

Like I said earlier this year, I plan on posting a LOT more book related content this year, and a discussion post seems like a great way to help me with my goal. Yes, this is indeed my first discussion post, so I’m not exactly really sure how to do this. If any of you are more experienced book bloggers, any advice would be heavily appreciated ❤

Anyways, moving on: as the title suggests, today I will be talking about hype in books, and if it changes our perception and reading experience. This is something I’ve been thinking about for quite a bit, and I’ll give my final verdict after presenting the evidence*.

PLAN WITH ME: February Bujo Set-Up // a glance at my yearly spreads

New year, blank slate.

Alas, that also means a new bullet journal! After my first year of bullet journalling and finding the system that works best for me, it’s now time to put that 365 days of “experience” into the next.

Today, I’ll be showing you my February set-up and of course, my yearly ones too. Hopefully this will give you some inspiration if you do bullet journalling as well 😉
