chapter 2 ☾☼

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” — Winnie the Pooh

I… actually don’t have any idea how to write this post, and to be honest, I have been avoiding to do so. Well, Winnie the Pooh seems to capture what I feel perfectly.

Like mentioned in several of my posts this past month, I’ve talked about why I’ve decided to move on to a new blog. At first, my plan was to change the blog name and address on the current one right now. However, it then came apparent that I cannot do that. Originally, I had wanted to change the name because I no longer felt that “Free Perspectives” represented what I wanted this blog to be. But, I couldn’t bring myself to completely change it and say goodbye to this blog name, and url, completely. When I first started blogging, I had just gone through a rough time – at that time, that blog name meant something to me. Therefore, “Free Perspectives” is something that I want to keep, for sentimental reasons, as well as being such an important part that has helped me throughout highs and lows.

At first, the thought of starting completely over was startling. Blogging envy was something that had almost lead me to stop before, and I was afraid that it would happen again. Though, I believe that I have learned, and that there are so many beautiful amazing friends – you know who you are – that I have made whilst this journey in the blogosphere to help me as I begin again. I know that moving on to my new site would mean that I would have no followers again, and few likes, but I have since then understood that it really, truly doesn’t represent who I am. Blogging should be something I enjoy and love – if it starts to become a chore and source of validation, then it will be something worth going over and thinking about. However, I’m confident that my new blog will remind me of those important aspects, and how it applies to our daily lives.

To be honest, though, to me, this isn’t a goodbye – I don’t see this as a “last post” – instead, I believe that this a new beginning, a new chapter. Free Perspectives started this story, but the chapter will have to end eventually. My new blog will simply be chapter two of my journey, with y’all, in the blogosphere. Of course – this blog won’t ever be taken down, as well as my past posts – no worries :))

On that note, I think it’s proper time to introduce the new site!

Thank you all again, so so much for putting up and supporting this potato tea child as she transitions over to the new site. This is simply just chapter one – let the next one begin, shall we?

i’ve been thinking about… [insert everything] // life updates + the future of this lil blog

Hi there, it’s me. Suddenly – and very randomly – dropping a post into your Reader feed as you casually scroll by.

It’s been about, what, 2 weeks (??) since my last post on this blog. Of course, there were the late night rehearsals, fashion show, and all that, so I had kinda anticipated this disappearance of mine from the blogosphere. Again.

However, ever since the fashion show rollercoaster ended (aka 4 days ago), I’ve been thinking about me, as a blogger, and y’all, as the wonderful readers that decide to read what I’ve got to say. I know that one of my main goals for blogging this year was to get back on track and post for consistently, but for the past few months, things haven’t been going to well on that front.

From the blog title you may be getting the impression that this is a goodbye, but I’m here to say that it’s not. I do feel, however, that I’m not being the best, responsible blogger I can be, and I believe that I can do way better. Thus, this is what this post will be about – the future of Free Perspectives.

I don’t know if it was because of the fashion show and school, but I’ve been lacking inspiration on what I should post. I strongly believe in posting content that I am truly proud of; what I really want to share with you guys. I don’t want to be posting just for the sake of posting. The thing is, while I struggle with that, I disappear off the blogosphere a bit, and that’s not exactly what I want either.

So what about the future of the blog?

↬ Firstly, I’m not going to stop blogging, nor go on a 1 month+ hiatus for the foreseeable future. This is something I love doing, and I want to continue with it. I owe blogging so much, and I can’t imagine me stopping anytime soon.

↬ There are going to be some major changes made soon, aka my blog name. I have been thinking about changing it for awhile now, and I believe that it would be best for me to now, without any doubt. Free Perspectives will always be a name close to my heart, but I think it no longer shows what I want to represent through this blog and my posts. Currently I don’t have a set name for sure yet (right now debating over two final choices), but I definitely have some ideas! I’ll be sure to mention when I’m going to transition over to my new url in a post when I decide to and have more time :))

I’m planning to stick with my niche(s), but as another source of feedback, I want to know what y’all think! This is just a smol poll* for me to see what you guys think. As always, it’s 100% anonymous, and the form doesn’t collect any of your email addresses or personal information 🙂 It would mean so much if you could take a minute to fill this out. Thank you in advance <33

*me being proud of the rhyme

I’ve been blogging for more than 2 years now, and I’ve got to say, wow this has been one special journey. However, I think that it’s okay to close that chapter of my blog, and begin with a fresh start. I want to make my blog represent what I want to share, and who I am overall as much as possible, so I think that this will be a good step to take next. Don’t worry – I won’t be deleting the blog posts I already have up on my blog :))

Anyways, to give a brief timeline, so far I’m estimating that I’ll be redesigning and changing my blog name (with the url) around the end of June or the start of July, as I will be on summer break then. I’m still not sure if I should change it, or have a complete new beginning and start a new blog, whilst keeping the url I already have. I’m really excited as to where this new chapter of my blog will take us <33 Thank you all again, for your patience and love. It truly means so much to me.

7 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Blogging // ft. me being sentimental, my real thoughts + lessons I’ve learnt

Blogging has impacted and taught me so much.

From improving my writing, introducing me to reading (aka my love), to of course, the wonderful, amazing friendships I’ve made, there’s so much I owe to this blog or my first child. The past 2 years, a lot has changed for this blog and I as a blogger, and upon reflection, I wondered how much it was comparing to when I had first started.

Today, I’ll be talking about some things I wish I have known when I first started out blogging! I thought that it may be a fun and sentimental post to write about, and I hope that you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I had reminiscing :)) Before I start, I’d just like to note that the following are just what I wish I had known for my own blog, but that doesn’t necessarily have to be the same for yours! Everyone’s blog and style is different; let’s cherish that and celebrate our differences 🙂

Let’s dive right in, shall we?

2 Year Blogiversary Q&A // tons of bookish questions (!!), life aspirations + when will I stop blogging??

Hello world, and welcome back to another episode of Kimberly’s Unannounced Hiatus.

Or rather than hiatus, a short absence from the blogosphere – I… have once reappeared. Amidst school, textiles [insert screaming], the competition, and overall LIFE in general, I couldn’t find the time to properly sit down, drink a cup of tea and blog.

My 2nd blogiversary was actually on February 25th, and I was SO hoping that I could have this published on that day. Even though this is late, I owe this to y’all, and I had a ton of fun answering all the questions you submitted.

7 Favourite Things Tag // happy new year!

Can’t believe I’m saying this but… it’s officially 2019.

And of course, with no doubt I am not okay?? At all?? I did NOT sign up for this, but here it is – a new year. School started today and I am SO not happy about it. Well, maybe expect for the fact that I’ll see my friends again and textiles.

Anyways!! Enough with that – let’s move on to something more positive 🙂 To kick off the first post of 2019, I decided that it would be rather fit to do a tag.

Hello friends, and happy Sunday! I hope that you’re all doing well 🙂 As you can probably tell, we are reaching the end of my mini-series “2018 in Review”. In case you’re not aware, basically what “2018 in Review” is looking back this past year and, like the name, reviewing it. Anyways, for today, I’ll be reviewing the goals I made in December 2017 for this year, as well as making resolutions for the upcoming 2019. I mean, I think it’s quite obvious now that one of my favourite things to do is making goals and, yes, planning 😂

2018 In Review: Most Memorable + Least Memorable Moments of 2018 ft. lots of screaming, revelations + sentiments

Y’all, it’s December. Aka last month of the year.

I’m still (extremely) confused as to how time works, because it seems like it was just yesterday that I screamed about how 2017 was going to end*? Is it just me when I say that sometimes 1 hour feels like forever yet looking back at a month seems like 5 minutes? Oh, I don’t know what time is anymore.

Anyways, since it’s the last month of the year do we need to be reminded again lol, instead of doing a Farewell November and December post (month wrap-up), I’ll be splitting it all AND including notable moments of 2018 into several posts as a mini-series called 2018 In Review!

Now, may I invite all to witness Kimberly screaming (yet again) as she struggles to remember what happened over the last 365 days. It’s fun to watch, really.

Let’s dive right in, shall we? *hup*

*oh how ironic

The Sunshine Blogger Award // dying in textiles, bookish questions (!!), strange facts about me + more

Hello lovelies, happy Thursday 🙂 How are you all doing? Things are pretty complicated for me right now with school and such. Especially textiles. We just finished our designer garment bags, and now we’re moving on to our pants and designing our shirts. There’s so much sketching I need to do, and I have to find a suitable colour palette for my capsule wardrobe. Even though it’s hectic, I still love textiles, but ughhhh

So!! I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by Ryry @ OMG Ryry, Olivia @ Purely Olivia and Dezzy @ The Thoughtful Voice! There are so many questions – even some in which I begin to have an existential crisis. I’m so excited to do this and answer the questions, and hopefully it’ll give y’all a better look at the true nonexistent life of Kimberly XD

The Positives and Negatives of Blogging // life as a student blogger

If there is anything I love more than tea and potatoes, it’d gotta be analyzing stats and charts.

I know, such a nerd, but that just so happens to be me sometimes XD As you guys probably know, I’ve been blogging since February 2017, so it’s been an year and a half *faints* for me in the blogosphere.

Ever since I published my first post ’till now, I’ve never stopped learning about blogging, WordPress, and the community. Over that period of time, I think it’s safe to say that I have a good idea of the pros and cons of blogging as a student blogger, in which I will talk about in today’s post! Let’s dive right in, shall we?
