Farewell April // sakura season + bookish frustrations // hope in humanity

Upon reflection, April has been quite productive.

Sometimes I feel like I have done absolutely nothing at all and then to later realize that I actually completed quite a bit?? I know – me and my thoughts… So many things happened this past month in both blogging and life, so I’m quite excited to sum everything up and squeeze it into a blog post.

Honestly, these are one of my favourite posts to do – we’re a third into 2018 I mean wow. There’s a lot of things I want to reflect and see what I have accomplished so far this year. The past few months I’ve been complaining talking about how fast time is going, and yes, I still feel that way!! But it’s kind of refreshing to bring myself back to “reality” 🙂

if that makes any sense

Unrealistic Beauty Standards // social media, peer pressure, and perception of beauty // #torontostrong

In a world of social media, it’s quite hard to not unconsciously chisel away another part of our self esteem.

Nowadays, almost everything people my age talk about, is undoubtedly, social media – and oh don’t forget the filters, hon. When we talk about “beautiful-ness” (aka another word I made up), we often link it to celebrities, actors, Instagram-ers, SnapChat-ers… basically all of those people who always seems to be in front of the pack.

I’m not saying they’re bad – we all lead our own lives, and we should all respect that. The purpose of this post though, is instead of criticizing, I’d like to discuss with how us, the modern generation, are often pressured by these things. Social media is taking the world by storm, but it may be doing more harm than good.

Just by Being Brave

Did you know that…

being brave is realizing that it’s totally okay to be afraid

being brave is acknowledging your fears

being brave is reaching out for help

being brave is doing that presentation even though you fear public speaking

being brave is learning how to say “no”

being brave is accepting your mistakes

being brave is trying

being brave is not shutting yourself out from everyone else

being brave is not bottling your emotions up

being brave is appreciating yourself

being brave is accepting all emotions

being brave is not letting your past dictate your future

being brave is telling a loved one that you love them

being brave is taking time off your daily schedule to practice self care

being brave is confronting your fears

being brave is allowing yourself to cry instead of pretending everything’s okay

being brave is giving a helping hand

being brave is allowing yourself to enjoy life

being brave is being there to support someone

being brave is trying to lessen your inner critic for yourself

being brave is taking a well needed break

being brave is reminding yourself to breathe

being brave is not giving up on yourself

being brave is being you

and so much more…

Bravery comes in so many forms. The knight in shining armour, riding a dragon, and fighting this evil witch – we’d always think that the “fighting” part is what courage is. Yes, that’s true – it takes guts. But what do I really think? I think that the part when the knight decides to hop onto his dragon and taking off is the bravest part of all.

let's take flight, shall we

haven’t done these types of posts in awhile *brushes off dust* what is your definition of being brave? thoughts on my randomly weird perspective? do you agree/disagree with any of my blurbs above? tell me everything! comment away lovelies – remember to take care of yourselves ❀

forever yours, kimberly

TMI Tag Responses // 50 Questions vs. 50 Weird Answers

Hello, my name is Kimberly, and I often have extremely weird answers to everything in life.

I was tagged by the amazing one and only Ryry @ OMGRyry to do the TMI tag awhile ago 🙂 Apparently TMI stands for Too Much Information but before I thought it was a tag dedicated to people called “Timmy” or something XD I’m currently drowning in homework and tests – many thanks and gratitude to Ryry for this nomination, but also reviving me from all this school related haze 😅

I did the Get to Know Me Tag a little while ago, but I hope that there will be a few questions that weren’t answered in that post or discussed in my About page. I’m quite excited to answer these questions, and I hope you’ll find this a decent interesting read as you delve into the intriguing life of Kimberly.

REVIEW: If There Was No Tomorrow // lots of kleenex needed + devastatingly beautiful // #humboldtstrong

A more suitable title would be “If there Was (were) No More Tears for Me to Cry Tomorrow”

Haha my grammar tho. Back to the book: this has GOT to be one of the best and worst reading moments for me during my 1000 year of life. Yes I’m older than Yoda – don’t judge.

I haven’t done a book review in awhile – I know I said that I was going to do one in my February wrap-up, but you know me and I never stick to my promises *cries* Though I promise that this one is definitely going to be better than that ‘would-be’ post. I don’t want to spoil too much for you right now  so I’ll just shut up right now and stay quiet until later

Hopefully I can polish up my book reviewing skills aka I haven’t done this in forever *dances away*

Farewell March // spring break + changes in life // spring saves sanity

So it’s near the end of March and my potato brain is unable to comprehend with that fact.

Like always!! Anyways: March went by really quick. Too quick actually. Where did time go I don’t know too 😅 This past month has been really hectic – I’m starting to get used to online school, and how to juggle that along with in-class school.

SO much happened over that past 31 days (wow I sound like a documentary).. spring break happened, gymnastics happened, and I got to see family… March was busy, but definitely better than February 🙂 I’m just hoping that my March recap will look decent tho 😂
