7 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Blogging // ft. me being sentimental, my real thoughts + lessons I’ve learnt

Blogging has impacted and taught me so much.

From improving my writing, introducing me to reading (aka my love), to of course, the wonderful, amazing friendships I’ve made, there’s so much I owe to this blog or my first child. The past 2 years, a lot has changed for this blog and I as a blogger, and upon reflection, I wondered how much it was comparing to when I had first started.

Today, I’ll be talking about some things I wish I have known when I first started out blogging! I thought that it may be a fun and sentimental post to write about, and I hope that you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I had reminiscing :)) Before I start, I’d just like to note that the following are just what I wish I had known for my own blog, but that doesn’t necessarily have to be the same for yours! Everyone’s blog and style is different; let’s cherish that and celebrate our differences šŸ™‚

Let’s dive right in, shall we?

Several Writing Snippets // recent poems + short stories

Hello loves!

As you probably already know, I adore literature, or basically anything that has to do with words. Although, you may not know, but I also enjoy writing! I usually write short poems, but occasionally I have some short stories in mind, but I never really took the time to jot them down. So, I’m doing something I’ve never really done before here: may I present some of my writing snippets! I hope that you’ll enjoy them as much as I did writing them šŸ™‚

Let’s dive right in, shall we? *hup*

Kaleidoscope // Spring 2018 Photography Collection

Hello friends!

Last long weekend I went up the mountains, and I saw something that I’ve never seen before in my 1000 short years of life: my city. I’ve lived there for so long that I didn’t really have time to stop and appreciate the thing we’re best known for – a city beside the ocean and mountains.Ā Despite all the negativity we sadly have in our world today, there’s still some beauty that persists for us to see.

Today, I’m sharing some of the photos I took on the short little visit up the mountains! I know there’s some snow, but that’s spring for us 40 minutes away from where we liveĀ šŸ˜‰ It really gave me wider perspective on the beauty of nature, and I hope that it’ll do the same for you šŸ™‚

Let’s dive right in, shall we? *hup*

side note: I made an error about my new blogging schedule on my last post; it’s actually Wednesday and Saturday šŸ™‚

REVIEW: The Conspiracy of Us // experiencing existential crisis + unexpected plot twists

I, obviously, question a LOT of things in life.

Including why life works the way it works, why I’m an introvert, and also the purpose of my existence. So what better way to add to that pile of me vs. my thoughts by adding a book with a plot that will send me into further existential crisis?

I had a lot of mixed feeling regarding this book, and now I’m really not sure what to feel anymoreĀ šŸ˜…Ā Therefore, before we proceed, heed the following warning: you are about to advance into Kimberly’s Extreme Lands of Ranting.

10 (Very) Random Facts You May Not Know About Me

Surprise, surprise, humans are very interesting creatures.

Out of the 8 (?) billion people in our world, not one of them is the same. We all have our own unique attributes, personalities, bodies, and everything else in between. Sadly though, sometimes it’s the most “unknown” facts about us that scares/embarrasses us the most.

Usually I’m a very secretive person, and because I feel nice for once, I’m going to do something that I haven’t done here in awhile. Today, I’m going to be sharing 10 facts you may not know about me!! This has been sitting in my drafts for awhile, so why not put some use to it? Let’s dive right in, shall we? *hup*

Smol note: #sorrynotsorry for my unannounced 1 week (ish) haitus ~ just finished and somehow survived my fashion show (I’ll talk about that in another post soon *wink wink*)

Unrealistic Beauty Standards // social media, peer pressure, and perception of beauty // #torontostrong

In a world of social media, it’s quite hard to not unconsciously chisel away another part of our self esteem.

Nowadays, almost everything people my age talk about, is undoubtedly, social media – and oh don’t forget the filters, hon. When we talk about “beautiful-ness” (aka another word I made up), we often link it to celebrities, actors, Instagram-ers, SnapChat-ers… basically all of those people who always seems to be in front of the pack.

I’m not saying they’re bad – we all lead our own lives, and we should all respect that. The purpose of this post though, is instead of criticizing, I’d like to discuss with how us, the modern generation, are often pressured by these things. Social media is taking the world by storm, but it may be doing more harm than good.

being brave is accepting your mistakes

being brave is tryingĀ

being brave is not shutting yourself out from everyone elseĀ

being brave is not bottling your emotions up

being brave is appreciating yourselfĀ

being brave is accepting all emotionsĀ

being brave is not letting your past dictate your futureĀ

being brave is telling a loved one that you love themĀ

being brave is taking time off your daily schedule to practice self care

being brave is confronting your fearsĀ

being brave is allowing yourself to cry instead of pretending everything’s okayĀ Ā

being brave is giving a helping handĀ

being brave is allowing yourself to enjoy life

and so much more…

Bravery comes in so many forms. The knight in shining armour, riding a dragon, and fighting this evil witch – we’d always think that the “fighting” part is what courage is. Yes, that’s true – it takes guts. But what do I really think? I think that the part when the knight decides to hop onto his dragon and taking off is the bravest part of all.

let's take flight, shall we

haven’t done these types of posts in awhile *brushes off dust* what is your definition of being brave? thoughts on my randomly weird perspective? do you agree/disagree with any of my blurbs above? tell me everything! comment away lovelies – remember to take care of yourselves ā¤

forever yours, kimberly

TMI Tag Responses // 50 Questions vs. 50 Weird Answers

Hello, my name is Kimberly, and I often have extremely weird answers to everything in life.

I was tagged by the amazing one and only Ryry @ OMGRyry to do the TMI tag awhile ago šŸ™‚ Apparently TMI stands for Too Much Information but before I thought it was a tag dedicated to people called “Timmy” or something XD I’m currently drowning in homework and tests – many thanks and gratitude to Ryry for this nomination, but also reviving me from all this school related hazeĀ šŸ˜…

I did theĀ Get to Know Me TagĀ a little while ago, but I hope that there will be a few questions that weren’t answered in that post or discussed in my About page. I’m quite excited to answer these questions, and I hope you’ll find this a decent interesting read as you delve into the intriguing life of Kimberly.

REVIEW: If There Was No Tomorrow // lots of kleenex needed + devastatingly beautiful // #humboldtstrong

A more suitable title would be “If there Was (were) No More Tears for Me to Cry Tomorrow”

Haha my grammar tho. Back to the book: this has GOT to be one of the best and worst reading moments for me during my 1000 year of life. Yes I’m older than Yoda – don’t judge.

I haven’t done a book review in awhile – I know I said that I was going to do one in my February wrap-up, but you know me and I never stick to my promises *cries* Though I promise that this one is definitely going to be better than that ‘would-be’ post. I don’t want to spoil too much for you right now Ā so I’ll just shut up right now and stay quiet until later

Hopefully I can polish up my book reviewing skills aka I haven’t done this in forever *dances away*
